Synopsis

The first edition of this text was published in 1948 as part of a series of conferences in homage to the 95th anniversary of the birth of José Martí. This collection brings readers back to speeches delivered by professors and students from Universidad de Oriente and incorporates a foreword by Dr.C. Israel Escalona Chadez, by way of presentation. This new edition of Homage to José Martí allows us to listen to the thoughts of professors and students of a university that he proclaimed Science and Conscience as an essential attribute. In the authoritative and firm voice of Felipe Martínez Arango, in the opening words of the series of conferences, the progressive thought of the founding nucleus of the Casa de Altos Estudios emerges. Inspiring and organizing the tribute to the Master, the enthusiastic Director of the Department of Cultural Relations outlines the "current profile of Martí". Likewise, the maturity of the students is shown, capable of delineating essential edges of Martí's thought. Serve this volume for scholars of Martí's reception in the east of the country.
