Pharmacies and pharmacists in the eastern region of Cuba in the 19th and 20th centuries. An approach to its history
Keywords:
Pharmacy, Santiago de Cuba, XIX century, XX century, history of pharmaciesSynopsis
This is an approach to the history of pharmacies in the former province of Oriente during the 19th and 20th centuries, although its center of attention is the city of Santiago de Cuba. It is based on the study of archival documentary sources of the region and reveals establishments, some already disappeared and others still in existence, as well as formulations, press announcements, institutions and personalities. Its author, the university professor and researcher Clara Zúñiga, proposes a route to rediscover those establishments that the city still preserves and to which the visitor can go to meet history or in search of medicines.
