Synopsis

The essays compiled in this book were presented at various editions of the International Conference For the Balance of the World. They have relevant contributions, first of all, to demonstrate the validity of Martí's concern for the balance of the world in general and of Cuban society in particular. And, secondly, for teaching us that Martí's idea of balance was not just an idea, but was the guide of his political-revolutionary actions. The compiled texts show Martí's thought regarding racial balance, the unity of Our America and the Antilles, and his position in the face of the growth of North American imperialism and the independence of Cuba.
