Our University of Oriente, declared a National Monument, protected by a tradition of excellence in cultural heritage research, has had the privilege of having relevant figures in this field on its faculty such as Dr. Francisco Prat Puig, Dr. Felipe Martínez Arango, or Dr. María Elena Orozco Melgar, whose works are reflected in some of the works in this book, together with others dedicated to the management and safeguarding of cultural heritage. The urgent approach to this aspect of scientific endeavor will undoubtedly allow for the projection of results necessary for the near future.
